A Life in colors
When I came to Atlanta at the end of February 2020 to follow my husband for his expat position, I had a lot of plans to develop my skills in screen printing. But three weeks later, we were all hit by the lockdown due to Covid19. All Art Centers closed and all my plans fell apart.
My depression and anxiety worsened. Besides what I could do to help myself medically, I wrote down everything that kept my mind busy. When I started to feel better, I thought that this hard time I went through has to be good for something else.
I had already started to make my own paper for lino cut prints and as a natural progress I shredded my diaries because I didn’t want anybody else to ever read through my worst thoughts. I made new paper out of my transcriptions, colorized it and sewed parts together in order to create pictures and art I would like to hang on the walls.
I have chosen to sew the pieces together instead of glueing them because, for me, it is like sewing up a wound. With different colors of yarn I am also able to vary the expression of a picture
I enjoy every single part of the process of making my pictures and I hope you enjoy them, too. The titles of the pictures are related to my emotions, my memories, my thoughts, situations or landscapes.
